Demand for the Geos Group’s shipping services is steadily increasing, so we have recently added the Wisby Argan to our fleet. We now operate three vessels simultaneously, which enables us to be more responsive to our customers’ requirements, and more flexible in terms of speed, reach and capacity. All three are equipped for ship-to-ship transfer.
The 14-year-old Wisby Argan is bigger than our two existing vessels (the Thun Blyth and Thun Britain). She measures 100 metres long and 19 metres wide, and has a capacity of 6,000 MT of marine gas oil. Most of her voyages are up and down the east coast between Blyth, Aberdeen, Peterhead, Lerwick and Immingham.
The Thun Blyth and Thun Britain were custom-built for the Geos Group and delivered in 2020 and 2022 respectively. At 80 x 16 metres, they are relatively small, stable and easy to manoeuvre, and they have opened up some excellent commercial opportunities in recent years. These twin ships have some impressive technical capabilities and innovative design features – for example, they are fitted with NaabsaMAX technology (not always afloat but safely aground), which means they can lie flat on the seabed in port after the tide has gone out.
The Thun Britain mostly delivers fuel to the islands off the coast of Scotland, while the Thun Blyth spends much of her time in the Channel Islands and is also available for short-term charter. They both have low fuel consumption and a high cargo intake, which makes them highly energy efficient and cost effective.
