More Marine Gas Oil Supply Options Available in Scotland

We have increased the number of bunkering options to our clients by opening a second fuelling base in Aberdeen harbour, and establishing road transport access to our tanks in Peterhead.

In Aberdeen we have been supplying vessels with marine gas oil on the north side of the harbour for many years, working closely with our delivery partner, Peterson, at their supply base at Pocra Quay. The fuel services we provide include ex-pipe delivery at the port, delivery by road to ports throughout Scotland, and ex-rack collection by third parties.

Peterson has recently established additional tanks on the south side of the harbour at the Torry Marine Base on the River Dee. The move comes in response to an increased demand for fuel, and new supply contracts with ship owners and operators in the North Sea offshore industry.

The addition of this second Geos Group fuel supply facility in Aberdeen, in collaboration with Peterson, forms part of a series of new developments that will see capacity increase in the port over the next 18 months. It enables us to offer greater flexibility and responsiveness to the needs of our customers in the months and years to come.

Meanwhile, our delivery partner NorSea Group has installed fuel tanks at the port of Peterhead, in order to offer a ‘one-stop’ logistics service. The infrastructure that enables road access to the fuel tanks has recently been developed, which enables us to operate a truck-loading facility there too.

The £52 million port redevelopment project at Peterhead, which started in 2016, is nearing completion. The project aims to turn Peterhead into a fully integrated and modern fishing hub, and the work has included extensive dredging and infilling as well as the design and construction of a new fish market. There will be a new 180-metre deep-water quay – along with a reclaimed 30,000 square metre working area – both of which will enable the NorSea Group to provide expanded logistics services to the subsea, decommissioning and logistics industries.

Through its close partnerships and integration with ongoing development projects in Aberdeen and Peterhead, both strategically important ports, Geos Group (Sea Bunkering) is pleased to be able to offer an ever-increasing range of fuel bunkering services and options for ship owners and operators throughout Scotland and beyond.
