Aberdeen Offshore Oil & Gas Conference

20th October 2011

In September, Barry Newton and Graeme Cardno attended the ‘SPE Offshore Europe Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition’ in Aberdeen. The event has been running every two years since 1975 – Graeme went to the very first one and has been attending ever since! “It was pioneering stuff back then”, says Graeme, “and the exhibition has grown in step with the offshore market”.

‘SPE Offshore Europe’ has become a huge get together for people and companies in the offshore industry – an opportunity to catch up with contacts, find out who is doing what and meet new customers and suppliers. The number of attendees in 2011 reached an all-time high of 32,000 and 1,500 exhibitors occupied an area of 25,000 square metres. Speakers and delegates discussed global industry trends, oil spill prevention and the technical issues involved in securing safe, sustainable supply.

With an office and a physical fuel supply facility in Aberdeen, the Geos Group understands the specific needs of vessels serving the offshore market. “The biggest attraction is service”, says Graeme, “the industry runs 24 hours a day in sometimes difficult conditions – the boats cost a lot to operate and they need a quick response”. We put speed, flexibility and reliability at the heart of our Aberdeen operations, making us the ideal fuel supplier for vessels in the region.
